Ever since its
foundation twenty-five years ago, GIRSE (Gruppo Italiano di Risonanza di
Spin Elettronico) endeavoured to share, disseminate and promote
knowledge about electron paramagnetic resonance at a national and
international level, becoming one of the founding groups of EFEPR, the
European Federation of EPR Groups.
The main aim of GIRSE is to share and advance knowledge, and to encourage applications of EPR techniques across various research fields, favouring collaborations among the various members of the group. The ARPE (Association française de Résonance Paramagnétique Électronique) and the GERPE (Grupo Español de Resonancia Paramagnética Electronica) groups were founded later with the same purpose by the French and Spanish EPR communities. An ARPE-GIRSE joint meeting was organized in 2007. Following the success of that conference we decided to organize this year a joint meeting of the three national EPR societies, confident that this event will spark the development of new and productive interactions among the different groups.
